While the Chicago Bulls are one of the deepest and most talented teams in the NBA, they have a few big question marks regarding the upcoming season.
The biggest is likely the health of their star players in Derrick Rose and Joakim Noah.
Rose’s health is an obvious concern given he’s essentially coming off two missed seasons due to two separate devastating knee injuries. Noah meanwhile has routinely been among the NBA’s league leaders in minutes played over the past few seasons and has quietly been breaking down.
He plans to play with a knee brace for the upcoming season in hopes of keeping his legs feeling good but will not be playing nearly as much this year. That’s the word from the Chicago Bulls who expect to get around 32 minutes per game from both Derrick Rose and Joakim Noah.
Playing 32 minutes per game (on average) seems to be a solid number for both players and the Chicago Bulls as it gives them the ability to rest their star players when need be but also allows them to extend themselves in tight games.
Gone are the days of playing upwards of 37 minutes a game however so the Chicago Bulls will need to make up the difference from help on their roster. Of course given their depth that probably won’t be much of a problem, especially in the front court with both Taj Gibson and Pau Gasol ready to assist Noah as he sees a reduction in minutes.
