Houston Texans head coach Bill O’Brien says he was happy with the play of Jadeveon Clowney who played in his first game since Week 1.

The last thing the Houston Texans expected this season was for No. 1 overall pick Jadeveon Clowney to miss the first half of the season due to injury, but that’s exactly what happened to the former South Carolina star.
Injured during the Texans Week 1 contest, Clowney hadn’t seen the field since late September though finally returned against the Tennessee Titans on Sunday afternoon.
To the eye it looked as if Jadeveon Clowney played well, but what did head coach Bill O’Brien think about his performance?
“I saw him do a good job out there doing his assignments,” Bill O’Brien said. “Overall I thought he gave good effort. I saw him chasing some things down there at the end of the game. I was pleased to see him out there.”
While O’Brien and the rest of the Houston Texans coaching staff appeared thrilled with what Clowney brought to the table, the star defensive talent was a little more difficult on himself.
“I feel like I could’ve done a lot more,” Clowney said. “It’s going to get better, week by week. Just gotta build more confidence in my knee week by week to get better.”
With Clowney on the defensive line, the Houston Texans were able to nab a victory over the Titans and improved to a respectable 4-4. The win kept the Texans in contention for a potential playoff birth down the road, especially with the Indianapolis Colts loss as now the two teams are only separated by a single game.
Hopefully Jadeveon Clowney will be free of any setbacks and can spend the latter half of the season attempting to bring home the Defensive Rookie of the Year award. That won’t be easy given the limited amount of time he has, though if anybody could do such it’s probably Clowney.
