Minnesota Twins Prospect Byron Buxton Injured In AFL
By Ed Carroll
Minnesota Twins outfield prospect Byron Buxton’s injury-plagued 2014 season continued from the MLB regular season to the Arizona Fall League, and a jammed right middle finger will almost assuredly end his AFL season.
Byron Buxton hasn’t been able to catch a break in 2014, first injuring his wrist early in the season and then later suffering a concussion after a late-season promotion to Double-A. He went to the Arizona Fall League in an effort to pick up some at bats as he continues his development, but jammed his finger on Monday night, putting his AFL season, and appaearance in the Fall Stars Game, in doubt:

Berardino was correcting a report from last night claiming Buxton dislocated his finger, and the 20-year old will have x-rays on the finger to confirm it’s only been jammed. Buxton injured himself diving for a ball on Monday, and even if the injury isn’t serious, the Twins might decide it’s simply better to send Buxton home and hope he returns for 2015 fully healthy.
Buxton hasn’t played a game in the Majors yet, but is unfortunately close to developing the “injury-prone” label since July 2013:
