Dallas Cowboys coach Jason Garrett says owner Jerry Jones did not demand he put injured quarterback Tony Romo back into the game.

On Monday night, after Dallas Cowboys quarterback Tony Romo left the game with a back injury, owner Jerry Jones was seen leaving his suite and making his way to the field.

That’s where cameras picked up Jones speaking to Dallas Cowboys head coach Jason Garrett. Was he checking on the status of Tony Romo? Nope, in fact he was giving word to Garrett that Tony Romo’s x-rays were negative and the quarterback couldn’t further the injury by continuing to play.

Many speculated that Jones all but requested that Tony Romo be reinserted into the game in addition to delivering the news but Jason Garrett says that’s not the case.

“I think the ideal situation is to get it communicated as quickly as possible and he felt like he could do it,” Garrett stated. “It wasn’t a big deal to me at all.”

“Don’t worry about [how] things are being portrayed,” Garrett said.

You’d think there would probably be a more logical way for Jerry Jones to relay such information to Jason Garrett though Jones often leaves his suite and comes down to field level towards the conclusion of games, so perhaps he figured he’d knock two birds out with one stone.

At this point, you essentially have to take the Dallas Cowboys word for it and that Tony Romo returned to the game because everybody involved thought it would be the correct decision. That however didn’t work out very well as Romo looked unable to finish his throws and struggled during the final few minutes of regulation and overtime.

Currently Tony Romo’s status for Sunday’s game against the Arizona Cardinals is questionable.
