With Arron Afflalo back in the fold, the Denver Nuggets may deal Randy Foye some time before the NBA trade deadline

The Denver Nuggets missed the postseason for the first time since they drafted Carmelo Anthony last season. One of the major reasons they regressed, aside from all of their injuries, was the departure of swingman Andre Iguodala. They dealt Arron Afflalo to the

Orlando Magic

in the four-team deal that sent Dwight Howard to the

Los Angeles Lakers

to acquire Iguodala.

In the offseason, the Nuggets corrected their mistake by dealing guard Evan Fournier and a second round pick, which was used on guard Roy Devyn Marble, to the Magic in exchange for Afflalo. Afflalo had the best season of his career last season but because he is eligible to become a free agent in 2015 and was blocking arguably the Magic’s most talented player, Victor Oladipo, the Magic dealt him away.

The addition of Afflalo could make players like Foye expendable.

“The addition of Afflalo makes Randy Foye expendable and a trade candidate this season,” writes Jesse Blancarte of Basketball Insiders. “At age 31, Foye is still a solid scorer, good three-point shooter and underrated playmaker. A team looking for a guard that can knock down three-pointers, and occasionally initiate an offense could look to Foye for help.”

A veteran like Foye could help several teams and Grantland’s Zach Lowe even suggested he could help the Washington Wizards get by until Bradley Beal returns from his injury.

Foye averaged 13.2 points, 3.5 assists and 2.9 rebounds per game while appearing in 81 games. He shot 41.3% from the floor, 38.0% from three and 84.9% from the free throw line.
