NBA legend and Charlotte Hornets owner Michael Jordan admits he admires Lance Stephenson’s game.

Before the offseason began, Charlotte Hornets owner Michael Jordan suggested that he wanted to bring a star to his franchise.

No, he wasn’t able to land LeBron James or Carmelo Anthony but he did bring in Lance Stephenson. The veteran guard was hoping to land a big contract but a rather odd sequence of events during the postseason with the Indiana Pacers heavily lowered his value and hoping to find a diamond in the rough, Jordan and his Hornets signed Stephenson.

The two have been working out together for the past few months and Michael Jordan says he can’t help but admire the game of Lance Stephenson.

“One of the reasons why I admire his game is he takes on challenges,” Jordan said Tuesday. “For us to get any place in the East, we need someone to challenge LeBron. He challenged LeBron.”

While Michael Jordan wouldn’t give Lance Stephenson a pass on some of his antics he did suggest that he’s a big fan his competitiveness, something you can’t teach.

For what it’s worth, Stephenson has stated he plans to tone down his on-court antics in effort to please Jordan.

The NBA legend says he doesn’t plan to watch over Stephenson and has given him freedom so it should be interesting to see how the marriage works out. Jordan hasn’t exactly proven himself to be the best front office mind in the past but bringing in Lance Stephenson on a relatively team-friendly deal might prove to be one of his better decisions.

We’ll see how it all plays out as many pundits believe the Charlotte Hornets could emerge as the third or forth best team in the Eastern Conference this season.
