Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones suggests Tony Romo’s upcoming status is simply a matter of pain tolerance.

When Dallas Cowboys quarterback Tony Romo went to the ground on Monday night against the Washington Redskins, the situation didn’t look good.

Romo, who has dealt with a multitude of back injuries before, looked to be in significant pain while laying on the turf and was quickly removed from the game. He probably should have stayed sidelined but owner Jerry Jones eventually made his way down to the sidelines and appeared to opine for Romo’s return.

It was clear that Tony Romo wasn’t the same player before the injury and his status for the Dallas Cowboys’ upcoming tilt will be a matter of pain tolerance, this according to Jerry Jones himself.

“He can play,” Jones said, continually repeating the sentiment.  “He technically relative to the medical aspect he can play.”

Jones finished off with the following: “He can play without further damage.”

The fact that Tony Romo wouldn’t hurt himself any further is a plus for both he and the Dallas Cowboys though if he’s hurt you don’t really want him on the field. At 6-2 the Cowboys still have plenty of wiggle room in the standings to allow backup Brandon Weeden to handle the starting quarterback duties. No, it’s not exactly ideal and it will continue to run DeMarco Murray into the ground, but Weeden did show signs of life when he came in for Tony Romo on Monday night.

It’s a little alarming that Jerry Jones so adamantly wants Tony Romo to play given what he went through last season though it’s possible the Dallas Cowboys owner sees the potential playoff birth ahead and doesn’t want it slipping through his grasp.
