Whoever thought that NFL players don’t get their feelings hurt when released from a team needs to look at Ahmad Bradshaw.

Bradshaw, who spent the first six years of his career with the New York Giants, said he was hurt when the team released him shortly after the end of the 2012 season. The veteran running back will get his chance to face his former teammates when the Indianapolis Colts face them on Monday night.

Bradshaw had his second 1,000 yard season with the Giants in 2012, but his salary and the then-promise of David Wilson were the biggest contributors to his being let go.

“It didn’t take me long to get over it, but it hurt me because I felt that was my family, that I was a big part of that time and I still felt I had a lot of football left,” Bradshaw said.

He played in only three games with the Colts last season, as neck surgery derailed his Indy debut. However, he has become the featured back in the Colts’ offense, leading the team with 371 yards. Bradshaw has also been a vital weapon in the passing game, leading all NFL running backs with six touchdown receptions.

Monday night’s game also marks the return of former Giant Hakeem Nicks, who caught 311 passes and 29 touchdowns in his five years with Big Blue.
