It appears New York Knicks president of basketball operations Phil Jackson didn’t leave his Jedi mind tricks back in Southern California as he’s already trolling his own team.
Just moments after the Knicks were dusted by the Chicago Bulls, Jackson left the arena and told reporters his team isn’t ready for ‘showtime’.
“Not ready for showtime, were we guys?”
It’s not known if Phil Jackson was taking a swipe at the Knicks by mocking them, suggesting they weren’t ready for ‘showtime’ otherwise known as the glory year Los Angeles Lakers teams or if it was a notion they weren’t ready for the bright lights of the regular season.
Whatever the case, it’s typical Jackson who does everything to knock you down before he slowly attempts to build you back up.
He’s going to have a lot of knocking down to do though if the New York Knicks continue to play like they did in their season opener.
As for when Phil Jackson expects a reversal of course, he’s not putting a time on such.
“I can’t say how long it’s going to take.”
To add insult to injury Jackson went on to state that he knew the New York Knicks would struggle out of the gate, though many would have likely predicted a similar result given their public admission of struggles with the new triangle offense.
New York Knicks head coach Derek Fisher also echoed similar sentiments though did so with kiddie gloves on unlike Jackson who was rather blunt in his assessment of the poor play.
Hopefully some wins are on the horizon because it could be a long season in the Big Apple otherwise.
