When you break the record for most innings thrown in the postseason and your results are nothing short of historic en route to your third World Series ring in five years, the world is in your hand.
Or at least your hometown is as Madison Bumgarner of the San Francisco Giants will have his own special day in Caldwell County, North Carolina, this according to TMZ.
"SF Giants hero Madison Bumgarner is about to get his OWN DAY in the town where he grew up … with officials telling TMZ Sports there’s even talk of a parade to honor the World Series MVP.We spoke with an official from Caldwell County, N.C. — population just over 80,000 — who tells us Madison is the talk of the town … everyone is so proud of their hometown hero after his legendary pitching performance against the Royals."
Bumgarner, who defeated the Kansas City Royals twice and then came out of the bullpen to shut them down in Game 7 could also have a parade thrown in his honor though at this time it’s unknown if that portion of the day will go through.
While the San Francisco Giants ace is likely honored to have a day named after him it doesn’t seem like Madison Bumgarner’s style to have a significant amount of fan fare thrown over him, especially a parade.
A native of Hickory, North Carolina, the date for ‘Madison Bumgarner Day’ has yet to be determined as the county/town want their local legend to be available in person to honor him.
Bumgarner and his Giants will celebrate with the city of San Francisco on Friday afternoon with their championship parade.
