More from Cleveland Browns

Brian Hoyer completed 21-of-34 passes, overcoming two interceptions to throw for 300 yards and two touchdowns to lead the Cleveland Browns to a 22-17 victory over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers at FirstEnergy Stadium on Sunday afternoon.

Mike Glennson completed 17-of-33 passes for 260 yards and also had two touchdowns and two picks. Rookie Mike Evans was the star for the Bucs, catching seven passes for 124 yards and both touchdowns.

The Bucs got off to a fine start, driving from their own 20 to the Browns’ 13-yard line. They were stopped on third-and-seven and froced to get a field goal but Patrick Murray’s attempt was blocked by Billy Winn.

On their next two drives, the Browns were able to score on a pair of Billy Cundiff field goals, one from 49 yards out and one from 29 yards.

Glennon found Evans on the ensuing drive to give the Bucs their first lead, 7-6. That capped an eight-play, 80-yard drive that the Buccaneers sorely needed.

The Bucs were then able to go 42 yards in seven plays and get a 40-yard field goal from Murray with 2:25 to play to make it 10-6. The Browns answered with a 54-yard drive of their own, resulting in a field goal by Cundiff, making it 10-9 Bucs at the half.

The Browns opened the second half with a fantastic drive. They marched 80 yards in 11 plays and got a two-yard touchdown toss from Hoyer to Terrance West.

Evans’ second touchdown, this time on a beautiful catch from 24 yards out, gave the Bucs a 17-16 lead.

Hoyer found Taylor Gabriel to give the Browns the lead with 9:46 to play but the two-point conversion was no good, making it 22-17.

Facing fourth-and-one, the Bucs converted on a pass from Glennon to Vincent Jackson but the Bucs were whistled for pass interference. A play later, Glennon’s pass fell incomplete.

The 1-7 Bucs will return home to host the Atlanta Falcons next week while the 5-3 Browns will be in Cincinnati to take on the Bengals Thursday night.
