The Philadelphia Eagles may quietly be wishing they had kept Michael Vick around as their backup quarterback right about now as starter Nick Foles will miss the remainder of the game with a shoulder injury.

Foles, who was intercepted late in the first quarter left a few minutes later which brought backup Mark Sanchez off the bench and into the game.

The hope was that Nick Foles’ injury wasn’t serious and the signal caller could return to the game come the third quarter. However that won’t be the case as the Philadelphia Eagles ruled out Nick Foles for the remainder of the game.

What exactly is wrong with Nick Foles outside of the ‘shoulder issue’ is not known. However the team did put Foles through x-ray’s after he left the field and the fact he’s not able to come back seems to suggest he’s either simply in too much pain or there’s something wrong.

Nick Foles went down after a sack from the Houston Texans‘ Whitney Mercilus who slammed the quarterback to the ground in the process.

If there is a silver lining it did appear on replay that Foles went down on his non-throwing shoulder, though he has been dealing with a nagging injury in that arm for quite some time.

Mark Sanchez will continue to handle the starting quarterback duties against the Houston Texans with Nick Foles sidelined.
