The Atlanta Falcons didn’t play on Sunday but their head coach seems to be on his way out anyways, with two popular names likely to be mentioned as replacements.
After starting out the season with a massive thud, the Atlanta Falcons are likely to torch the entire coaching staff this offseason and get rid of everyone, including head coach Mike Smith.

When this happens — as it’s no longer a matter of if — the Falcons will likely look for a big name coach to replace Smith and lead the team into the future.
Jason La Canfora from CBSSports.com noted that two names that could pop up in the coaching search for the Falcons are Jim Harbaugh and Jon Gruden — mainly because they always pop up.
"Every year there is speculation about Jon Gruden leaving the broadcast booth to return as an NFL head coach, and this offseason the 49ers are expected to consider trade offers for their coach, Jim Harbaugh, with those sides unable to get anywhere on contract talks in the past. There could be several options for him to pursue, and any hotly coveted coach generally comes with his own thoughts about how the organization and front office should be structured."
What’s most intersting to note about this isn’t that Harbaugh or Gruden could coach the Falcons, it’s that Thomas Dimitroff could be out of a job as well making him a coveted general manager on the market. There have been highs to his reign in Atlanta, like the Julio Jones and Tony Gonzalez trades, but there have been crushing lows — like never winning.
That could cost Dimitroff his job or it could signal massive changes to the personnel he’s assembled on the Falcons roster over the years.
