When the Houston Texans selected Jadeveon Clowney with the first overall pick in the 2014 NFL Draft, they probably had visions of the linebacker being well on pace to win the Defensive Rookie of the Year award by Week 9 of the regular season.
What they’ve received is a player who has only played in two games and may or may not be angering the front office with his continued excuses according to the rumor mill.
Clowney sat out the Houston Texans tilt against the Philadelphia Eagles on Sunday with cold/flu like symptoms and how has reportedly been “muzzled”.
Local media asked the rookie who has missed seven of nine games to speak about his lingering injury and illness but Clowney wasn’t going to talk about it. More than that, he not available to talk about it at all now or during the upcoming week.
It’s not clear if Jadeveon Clowney muzzled himself or if the Houston Texans decided to tell their star rookie to be quiet.
Whatever the case, it seems evident that Clowney, who’s generally been relatively media friendly is not interested in talking. Could that be because the tenacious defensive talent was allegedly spending his time liking photos on social media while the Houston Texans were losing to the Philadelphia Eagles?
Reports have suggested that the Houston Texans want Jadeveon Clowney to began the maturing process but so far that doesn’t seem to be happening as quickly as they’d like.
Sounds like it’s going to be a rough week for the talented rookie who is certainly drawing the eye of the Texans front office and coaching staff.
