Although San Francisco Giants ace pitcher Madison Bumgarner has his own underwear and his own day in North Carolina, there’s something he really wanted but simply couldn’t get.

It all went down on Halloween as the San Francisco Giants celebrated their third championship in five seasons with a downtown World Series parade.

Two players from the roster each shared a bus as they strolled through Market Street en route to San Francisco’s City Hall. From Buster Posey to Pablo Sandoval to Hunter Pence, they all took the same mode of transportation as they waved to fans though Madison Bumgarner was asked if he had any special requests in regards to how he made his way through the masses.

Was it a customized Corvette like Barry Bonds? Perhaps a Rolls Royce like owner Larry Baer? Nope – it was a horse.

A country boy at heart, the North Carolina native who spends his offseason tending to his farm thought it would be neat if he could ride down the parade route on the mammal but the San Francisco Police Department had to deny the request after considering such.

"As high fives and knuckle knocks were exchanged, the cops gave Bumgarner the usual lines: “Great series,” “One in a million” — and, of course, the obligatory, “If there is anything we can do for you, just let us know.” At which point, Bumgarner looked over at the line of police horses and said, “Anything? How ’bout you letting me ride one of them horses in the parade?”"

Given the rainy weather and loud noises there was simply too much risk to allow Madison Bumgarner to ride the horse through the World Series parade though the 25-year-old did compromise and took a picture atop a horse instead.

Even though Bumgarner is an experienced rider, could you imagine what would have happened if he had accidentally fallen off in the wet weather?! Yikes! Good decision, SFPD.
