After destroying everything in his way during an impressive collegiate career at BYU, Jimmer Fredette has struggled to make an impact at the NBA level.
Drafted by the Sacramento Kings, Fredette was paraded around more as a show-pony rather than a basketball player and struggled to see the court during that time. He was eventually traded to the Chicago Bulls were he again found himself stapled to the bench before signing with the New Orleans Pelicans this past offseason.
Things haven’t been much better to start this season though the Pelicans believe Fredette can make a big impact on the court once he gets his defensive skills up to par.
He’s already done so in regards to his PR off the court as the overly kind Fredette donated nearly 900 sweatshirts and hoodies to a New York school.
"School officials say the foundation wanted to ensure that students stayed warm during the winter months. Fredette’s charity had previously made a $40,000 gift to the district so every student in could receive T-shirts and basketball gear."
Jimmer Fredette’s donation was in effort to keep currently enrolled children at his former grammar school in Glen Falls warm through the cold temperatures.
The sharpshooter also went out of his way to make sure the hoodies were school colors so all the students between kindergarten and fourth grade could proudly represent their school.
A very cool gesture on behalf of Jimmer Fredette who has become one of the most giving players in the league over the past few years.
Fredette signed a one-year deal with the Pelicans during the offseason and hoped to rekindle his career which saw him be honored with the National College Player of the Year award in 2011.
