After a record breaking broadcast last week, ESPN experienced the lowest Monday Night Football ratings of the season.

Coming into the season it’s likely the schedule makers saw a matchup between the Indianapolis Colts and New York Giants and thought it could be a ratings smash.
Not only did you have one of the best, young teams in the NFL with the Colts but you also had the New York Giants who are almost always a television draw thanks to their rather large fan base. It was a perfect scenario, right? Hardly as not only did Monday Night Football struggle for their typical viewership with their most recent broadcast, they actually suffered their worst ratings of the season.
Of course not all is bad for the prime time football game as just a week ago the Dallas Cowboys and Washington Redskins played to a season high in viewership and scored the biggest numbers ESPN has seen in nearly four years.
Before the Colts’ blowout over the Giants, the San Francisco 49ers and St. Louis Rams had the lowest ratings of the season. Much like the matchup between the Indianapolis Colts and New York Giants, the 49ers-Rams tilt was yet another blowout.
Clearly it seems as if fans simply aren’t going to dedicate their time to a game which is decided in the first quarter or two.
Low ratings or not, it seems as if Monday Night Football is doing just fine.
