The Pittsburgh Steelers will be without two of their best defensive players against the New York Jets as the team officially ruled out both Troy Polamalu and Ryan Shazier on Tuesday.

Given the woes of the New York Jets the Pittsburgh Steelers would have likely handled the New York Jets with relative ease at full strength, but that won’t be the case when the two teams take the field on Sunday afternoon.
Dealing with a rash of injuries the Pittsburgh Steelers have already ruled out both safety Troy Polamalu and linebacker Ryan Shazier for their Week 10 contest.
The fact that both players were ruled out so early seems to indicate both of their injuries still need additional recovery time.
Coach Tomlin has ruled out Troy with a knee sprain and Ryan Shazier will also not play on Sunday.

It’s possible the Pittsburgh Steelers are simply attempting to be cautious with Shazier as he’s currently dealing with a minor MCL sprain. He however missed a large chunk of the 2013 with a major MCL sprain and understandably they don’t want to make the situation any worse.
As for Troy Polamalu, the All-Pro sprained his knee in Sunday’s victory and needs additional down time. It’s not known if he’ll be ready to return come Week 11.
Losing both players does give some hope to the Jets and quarterback Michael Vick who did play decent in his Week 8 contest after taking over for Geno Smith. Still, losers of eight straight, the New York Jets will need a lot to go right against the streaking Steelers who’ve won three consecutive tilts.
Sean Spence is expected to take over for Ryan Shazier while Will Allen will handle duties in the secondary with Troy Polamalu sidelined.
