With Robert Griffin III back from injury the Washington Redskins came out of the gates swinging against the Minnesota Vikings on Sunday afternoon.
The quarterback lead the Redskins down the field and built up a 10 point advantage early in the game, though the team couldn’t keep the lead and eventually lost the game.
That has lead some players to question if the team lacks focus.
"Privately, some players have expressed concerns over the lack of focus demonstrated by some top-of-the-depth-chart veterans in practice and meetings. For a 3-6 team in last place in the NFC East at its bye week, the Redskins don’t appear to be serious about trying to turn around their season, at least not in the presence of outsiders."
Many have suggested the Washington Redskins lack a true leader and need somebody to step into that role. The obvious candidate would be the aforementioned Robert Griffin III given his talent level and position on the team, though rumors have stated not everybody is a fan of RGIII and the quarterback hasn’t exactly show a willingness to be a vocal leader.
Players simply aren’t going to buy into a teammate who struggles to remain on the field.
However as the most talented player on the roster you’d expect Griffin to become the default leader which seems to suggest plenty about the Washington Redskins struggles this season.
If the Washington Redskins are to turn the corner next year they’re going to need wholesale changes to their locker room as not only do they lack talent, they don’t have any players willing to stand up and be the leader. The lack of focus is an obvious sign of such.
