Cleveland Browns general manager Ray Farmer still believes Johnny Manziel can start at quarterback.
Cleveland Browns quarterback Johnny Manziel has been a total non-factor during his rookie season. The Browns have stuck with Brian Hoyer as their starter all season long and Manziel has remained firmly planted on the bench except for a few plays here and there.

But Browns general manager Ray Farmer said Tuesday that he still views Manziel as a starting NFL quarterback.
From the Cleveland Plain Dealer:
"“I want Johnny to play when Johnny’s ready to play, and we’re comfortable with where we’re at and how we want to play him and what the total organization looks like around him,” said Farmer, in his first press conference since before the season.“The result is for him to be successful for a long period of time and not just for a moment or for a flash, but for an extended period of time. We’re going to put together the right group, and we’re going to make sure everything is in place. He’s going to be ready, and we’re going to be ready when he does get that opportunity.”"
It would be a mistake for the Browns to give up so quickly on Manziel, so Farmer’s comments about the quarterback make sense.
Unfortunately for fans of the electric signal caller, Farmer’s words don’t inspire any confidence that the Browns want to put Manziel on the field in a substantial role anytime soon.
Still, a few poor games from Hoyer and pressure from the fan base could change their mind.
The Browns drafted Manziel with in the first round of the 2014 NFL Draft.
