Many questioned the Golden State Warriors this past offseason when they allegedly refused to include Klay Thompson in a trade for Kevin Love.
Some still may ponder if the Warriors made the correct move though the Golden State front office certainly seems to think so.
Not wanting to let Klay Thompson hit restricted free agency, the Warriors signed the guard to a maximum level contract extension because they believe he’s a budding NBA star.
"Warriors management knew all along what the rest of the league did: Thompson was bound to be an NBA star. He has all the tools. He’s got the supporting cast around him. And, now, he’s getting mature enough to put it all together."
Klay Thompson doesn’t come across as a player who lusts for the spotlight or wants to use his fame to his advantage. In fact it’s completely opposite as the only things Thompson seems concerned about is winning and getting better.
He of course comes from a bloodline well accustom to such as the son of Los Angeles Lakers great Mychal Cooper and he’s already impressed NBA legends like Kobe Bryant with his tireless work ethic.
Needless to say the Golden State Warriors have every reason to believe they have a potential superstar in Klay Thompson who has emerged as not only an offensive force, but a threat on the defensive end as he often picks up on Stephen Curry’s shortcomings.
As a basketball fan there’s absolutely nothing to dislike about what Klay Thompson brings to the court. He’s an extremely talented shooter who can man up on defense and plays the game with smarts and respect. Add in his confidence and desire and you have yourself a franchise talent.
