While Manziel spent his afternoon on the sidelines watching Brian Hoyer lead the Cleveland Browns offense, Evans was out on the field actually making an impact with seven catches for 124 yards and two touchdowns.
After Evans found the endzone, he looked to the sideline and did the “money sign” that Manziel was known for during his final year at Texas A&M.
Some people decided to overanalyze Evans’ actions and claimed they were a shot at his former college quarterback, but the truth is that the two players were just having some fun with each other.
Evans and Johnny Manziel are very good friends and Manziel got the last laugh when the Browns came away with the win.
After the game, the two players came together on the field to discuss their first NFL experience against each other and showed some respect by signing and swapping their jerseys.
Evans shared a photo of the jersey swap on his Instagram account:
When the Browns and Buccaneers meet again, you can bet Manziel will be hoping he is actually on the field so he can come away with the better stat line. It is all some friendly competition.
