Sammy Watkins was injured in Buffalo Bills practice and his status is unknown for NFL Week 10 action against the Kansas City Chiefs.

The Buffalo Bills have been impressed with the play of rookie wide receiver Sammy Watkins so far this season, but they are now worried about his health after he injured his groin in practice today. Buffalo doesn’t know the severity of the injury, but it could be the type of injury that keeps him out for more than just a few days.

More from Buffalo Bills

Watkins has caught 38 passes for 590 yards and five touchdowns on the season with the Bills, and has turned into Kyle Orton’s go-to guy. Standing at 6’1″ and with the type of athleticism and speed that he possesses, he is a nightmare for opposing defensive backs to go up against. Buffalo is hoping that he can play against the Kansas City Chiefs, but that is far from a sure thing.

Check out some quotes from Bills’ head coach Doug Marrone.

There is no denying the “star” potential that Watkins brings to the field for the Bills, and he has continued improving each week. He is looking much more confident, and he is learning from his mistakes each week as well. Orton has done an excellent job at the quarterback position, and has really helped Watkins in his progression.

It will be interesting to see if Watkins is able to go this week, and if not how long he ends up having to sit out. Marrone doesn’t have any idea at this point in time, so all we can do is wait for more information to come out.
