Cleveland Browns‘ running back Ben Tate scored a short touchdown in the first quarter of his team’s game against the Cincinnati Bengals on Thursday night as week 10 in the NFL officially gets underway.
That sound you heard was distressed fantasy football players everywhere expressing their dismay at Ben Tate. Once the starter for the Cleveland Browns this season, Tate appears to have given way to Terrance West for the lion’s share of the carries.

Fantasy players reacted accordingly and added West or put him into their lineups. It’s likely, in fact, that some owners swapped Tate directly to add West.
That doesn’t mean Tate and his two-year, $6.2 million contract will be completely out of the picture, however. The Browns don’t care about fantasy football, they just care about winning a division game. As such, they have Tate the carry close to the goal line, and the veteran running back punched it in for the touchdown.
The Browns’ running game has been completely missing in recent weeks, due in large part to the absence of center Alex Mack. It would be huge for Cleveland to start picking up chunks of yards on the ground in this game, so it is not surprising that they are trying to get West and Tate rolling in the first half of this key divisional game.
