When the NBA season tipped the Los Angeles Clippers were thought to be one of the favorites in the Western Conference.
Little has changed in that regard though the Clippers have stumbled out of the gate a bit as they currently sit at 3-2. That’s a respectable number for most teams but apparently not the Clippers who decided to hold a players-only meeting.
It’s not known if the meeting was simply in effort to get on the same page after some tough losses or if there was a need to clear the air between some players.
The Los Angeles Clippers opened the season with two straight victories though neither was exactly impressive nor were they against formidable opponents. Then came Sunday’s game against the Sacramento Kings who had the tilt in-hand all afternoon. A few days later the Clippers were waxed off the court by the Golden State Warriors were seemingly prompted the talk.
While the Clippers haven’t exactly been impressive to start the year, their two losses did come against two teams that have combined for a an 8-1 record during the first two weeks of the NBA season.
Certainly Los Angeles would like to be sitting prettier in the standings though their is a long way to go and it seems questionable to think they needed to hold such a meeting this quickly.
Should be interesting to see if it worked as the Clippers will be facing a tough schedule coming up, though if there is a silver lining they’ll be playing all the difficult games at home in the Staples Center.
