With Joe Maddon now wearing a Chicago Cubs uniform, the Tampa Bay Rays are looking for a manager and apparently already have a list of potential names to sort through.
You may assume that the Rays would probably like to keep this information private though you’d be wrong as their social media account posted who the Rays are currently expected to interview.
The names will likely look rather familiar to many which includes Ron Wotus of the World Champion San Francisco Giants and Kevin Cash of the Cleveland Indians. There are also a couple unexpected names on the list as well like Raul Ibanez of the Kansas City Royals.
Ibanez has yet to retire despite being 42-years-old and has suggested he may continue to play, however it seems as if the prospect of being a manager could be intriguing.

There aren’t a lot of big names available on the market and the Tampa Bay Rays aren’t likely to break the bank for their next manager, so this list may be about as rich as the Rays want to get. Still there are some very solid names on there and the Rays are likely to make a good hire considering that.
It doesn’t appear as if there is a favorite as of yet though you can’t help but wonder if one of the coaches with ties to the Tampa Bay Rays organization may have an inside track to the job as we so often see. Not only will they have knowledge of the franchise (top to bottom) but they aren’t likely to cost as much as some of the bigger outside names like the aforementioned Wotus or Manny Acta.
