Brian Hoyer is forcing the Cleveland Browns to consider a big extension for him this year, as he takes the team to NFL playoff contention.
Brian Hoyer won the Cleveland Browns’ starting quarterback job this past offseason, and has been looking to solidify himself as the long-term starter despite the selection of Johnny Manziel this past offseason. He has led the Browns to a 6-3 record and came up with a huge win over the Cincinnati Bengals last night to push the Browns into a tie for first place in the AFC North.

There have been talks about whether or not Hoyer will receive a contract extension following the season and the Browns are being forced to seriously consider that possibility. Most expected to see Hoyer start this season and hen Manziel take over next year, but that simply isn’t as easy as it was expected to be.
Deion Sanders had some glowing comments about Hoyer’s performance last night, and Pro Football Talk shared them in a report.
“There was a $100 million quarterback on the field tonight, and I didn’t know which one it was. But the one that’s sitting right here. . . . And I don’t talk a man’s money unless his game is funny. That’s my rule. Tonight, that game was funny. If that kid can make a hundred, this kid can make a hundred. Pay this man.”
Cleveland hasn’t had this type of a successful season in quite some time, and Hoyer is showing quite a few things that true franchise quarterbacks need to have. Hoyer is 9-3 in his career as the Browns’ starter and his teammates are playing hard for him.
It’s going to be very intriguing to see what the Browns end up doing with their quarterback decision and whether or not they choose to keep Hoyer in town. He has become a fan favorite with the record that he has led Cleveland to and he definitely looks to be a legitimate starter. Cleveland has quite a few decisions to make this coming offseason and their starting quarterback is one of them.
