Speaking of his MVP season in 2010-11; an award he won at a record young age of 22 years and six months, Derrick Rose has not been able to remain healthy since an injury sustain in the following season, when an ACL tear in his knee sidelined him for the entirety of the 2012-13 NBA season. After playing just a month in 2013-14, Derrick Rose again fell victim to the injury bug, this time in his right knee. He would subsequently miss the rest of last season.
While it would appear that Derrick Rose is not currently in any danger of losing what would amount to his 3rd straight complete season, the string of health issues is cause for concern. The man is only 26 and has already missed 2 full years of his prime.
This season, Derrick Rose is averaging 15.3 PPG, 5.3 APG, and 3 RPG; all totals well below his career averages of 20.8, 3.7, and 3.8. His shooting percentage is not far off at 45.5%.
The Bulls are 4-1 on the season, and are scheduled to take on the winless Philadelphia 76ers Friday night.
