Mo Williams has 103 total blocks in his NBA career. Outside of the 2009-10 season, he’s not made more than 11 blocks in a year. Friday night against the Orlando Magic, he had three. Mo Williams? More like No Williams!
Like a bat out of hell, Williams came out of nowhere to swat the shot of Devyn Marble into the seats. Here’s the video evidence.
Williams spent last season with the Portland Trail Blazers before signing a one-year deal worth $3.75 million this offseason to join the Timberwolves. Williams hasn’t been a starting point guard since midway through the 2012-13 season with the Utah Jazz. Minnesota’s starting point guard Ricky Rubio went down in the second quarter against the Magic after rolling his ankle. He left the game and did not return.
The team announced that he will be tested tomorrow and that he has a left ankle sprain. The injury likely means more time for Williams. He’ll be tasked with leading one of the youngest cores in the NBA and helping in the development of first overall pick Andrew Wiggins.
