Los Angeles Lakers forward Wes Johnson says he’s ready to play like a “wild man”.

Despite playing just under 30 minutes per game for the Los Angeles Lakers, forward Wes Johnson is only averaging 8 points on a team void of offensive talent. To make matters worse he’s not contributing much in the assists or steals categories though is playing solid defense.

Sadly it hasn’t helped the Lakers avoid a massive hole to start the season as they currently sit at 0-5, though Wes Johnson says he’s going to do what he can to get the team in the victory column.

“I’m ready to play,” Johnson said following Friday’s practice at the Lakers’ facility in El Segundo. “The sky’s the limit for me. It’s just going out there and playing like a wild man”.

The Lakers have not played since Tuesday so the downtime has given the coaching staff plenty of time to work with the players, especially Johnson who’s been one of the bigger disappointments on the roster thus far.

If there is a silver lining for both Wes Johnson and the Los Angeles Lakers it’s that the forward has previously shown he can be a very serviceable player when on the court. No, he won’t ever be a household name but he’s a fantastic “glue” player when everything is going right.

It’s within reason to believe that Wes Johnson simply has had a poor start to the 2014-15 season and isn’t losing any of his skills. Johnson also has to stop fearing getting yanked from the game when he makes a poor play as noted by head coach Byron Scott.

“He has to be a little more assertive,” the Lakers head coach said. “He can’t worry about me taking him out. I’m not going to take him out for taking a bad shot or making a mistake offensively.”
