Minnesota Timberwolves Think Ricky Rubio Could Miss 7-8 Weeks
By Wes Goldberg
Minnesota Timberwolves point guard Ricky Rubio was officially ruled out indefinitely, but one reporter says he could miss 7-8 weeks of NBA action with a significantly sprained left ankle.
After rolling his ankle in the second quarter of the Minnesota Timberwolves’ loss to the Orlando Magic Friday night, Rubio was ruled out “indefinitely” with a left ankle sprain, the team announced.
"“An MRI taken this morning on Ricky Rubio’s left ankle confirmed a significant sprain. He will be sidelines indefinitely. A further update will be provided when appropriate.”"
That time frame is vague, but Jeff Zillgitt of USA Today is hearing a more specific time table.

So far this season, Rubio is averaging 9.4 points and 10 assists in 28.8 minutes per game. He’s worked on his historically bad shot, too, shooting 42.6 percent as opposed to 38.1 percent a season ago.
Minnesota lost the game to the Magic in overtime, but that disappointment comes nothing close to losing it’s star player for such a significant portion of the season.

The Timberwolves take on the Miami Heat tonight in Miami, and will start Mo Williams in Rubio’s place. This also means more playing time for rookie Zach LaVine. In the wake of trading Kevin Love to the Cleveland Cavaliers, Rubio was supposed to step this season and lead a very young group. So far he had been, but will be sidelined for quite some time.
