Atlanta Falcons Vs Tampa Bay Buccaneers Final Score: Falcons Snap Five-Game Skid With 27-17 Win
Steven Jackson rushed for a touchdown, while Matt Bryant connected on four field goals as the Atlanta Falcons snapped a five-game losing streak with a 27-17 win over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers
Marcus Mariota or Jameis Winston? At this point, choosing which quarterback would be the better fit for the now 1-8 Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
While nowhere near as impressive as their 56-14 pasting of the Bucs, the Atlanta Falcons were able to snap a five-game losing streak by sinking the Buccaneers closer to the top of the 2015 NFL Draft with a 27-17 win. As dysfunctional as the NFC South is this season, the win also put the 3-6 Falcons back into the thick of the pillow fight that the division has become.
Atlanta was held to just 322 yards of offense, yet were able to make the most of the meager total behind the foot of kicker Matt Bryant, who hit four field goals that included a 33-yarder that clinched the game with 4:19 left.
The tepid Buccaneers offense showed signs of life behind quarterback Josh McCown, who made his first start since the first meeting of the teams on September 18. McCown threw for 301 yards and a pair of touchdowns, but threw two late interceptions that squelched any hopes of a comeback bid.
Tampa Bay had taken a 17-16 lead on McCown’s one-yard scoring toss to rookie tight end Austin Seferian-Jenkins, but Atlanta took the lead for good on the ensuing possession when Matt Ryan hit Roddy White with a five-yard touchdown pass.
At their current pace, the Buccaneers will have the second pick in next May’s draft, as they’ll likely await what (mis)direction the Oakland Raiders go with the first overall selection.
