Calvin Johnson made a beautiful 49-yard touchdown catch to put the Detroit Lions on top of the Miami Dolphins 10-0 with NFL playoff implications on the line for both teams.

More from Detroit Lions

The Detroit Lions have been one of the biggest surprises in the NFL this season, and they welcomed superstar wide receiver Calvin Johnson back to the lineup for the first time since Week 5. Unfortunately for the Miami Dolphins, he just had to return against them in a huge game for their playoff hopes.

Johnson made his presence known immediately for the Lions with a 49-yard touchdown catch off of a bomb from quarterback Matthew Stafford. He’s a matchup nightmare for any defensive back that is assigned to defend him, and he showed exactly why that is the case on this play. Detroit definitely has a chance to win the NFC North if they continue playing the type of football that they have been so far this season, and getting Johnson back on the field is absolutely huge for them.

Take a look at the 49-yard connection from Stafford to Johnson:

Needless to say, this game is going to be one to keep an eye on as both teams are playing with playoff implications in mind. The Dolphins definitely need this game more with their situation, but the Lions are trying to stay a step ahead of the Green Bay Packers in their division. Megatron being back is going to be huge for them moving forward, and you can expect to see the Lions’ offense take a step forward as far as their production is concerned.
