For much of the season the Pittsburgh Steelers have had one of the better defenses in the NFL. Of course missing two of your best defenders will weaken any core and that’s something the New York Jets and quarterback Michael Vick wanted to take advantage of.
Weak in the secondary, Vick and the Jets decided to go long ball against the Steelers and so far the results have been pretty impressive.
Before the clock even expired in the first quarter the underdog Jets had a 17-0 lead over Pittsburgh, highlighted by what would eventually be ruled a 67 yard touchdown pass from Michael Vick to T.J. Graham.
First off, look at the amount of time Michael Vick had to make the throw. More than that, look at the space. It looked as if the former Pro Bowl quarterback was on an island all by himself as a defender wasn’t within seven or eight yards.
That of course allowed Vick to get some extra muscle into the throw where he found the streaking Graham. That’s when things got ugly for the Steelers as the ball was thrown into double coverage, yet neither player could get their paws on the ball. To make matters worse they ended up tripping over each other allowing T.J. Graham to easily scurry for the six.
Might the Jets finally get off the snide and end their current 8-game losing streak? And against the Steelers of all teams who’ve been one of the hottest in the NFL?
