Fans of NFL teams seem to be very impatient these days, specifically those of whom that are residing in Chicago. According to reports, Bears fans are now replacing their firewood with Jay Cutler jerseys.
Cutler is a trending story. Whether he likes it or not, he will be the focal point of frustrations aimed at the disappointing 3-6 start the team is suffering through. Last night, a mauling ensued as the Green Bay Packers dismantled an over-matched Bears squad that was done playing meaningful football by halftime. The final score was 55-14. Aaron Rodgers needed just 30 minutes of game play to net 6 passing touchdowns, tying a record held by Daryle Lamonica since 1969 for most thrown in one half.

Wait, there is more. Videos have also been popping up on YouTube. Check out this one below. The marketing folks over at Duraflame could really learn something from this footage. If someone wanted to corner the Chicago area market, they could produce a fire log with a number 6 and Bears team colors adorning it.
In all seriousness, the amount of times Jay Cutler has been individually covered on this site within the last 2 months is ridiculous. If the team really felt it needed to make a change, they probably would have stuck with Josh McCown after last season’s spectacular 109.0 passer rating.
There is reason to believe the organization has not given up on him yet. Despite last night’s horrendous showing (1 TD 2 INT, 272 Yards, 68.8 passer rating), his numbers this year have been relatively solid. 3-6 is also not a death sentence.
Will the team likely need to win its final 7 games to have a shot at the playoffs? Absolutely. However, good quarterbacks are still somewhat of a premium, even in this new passer-friendly NFL. So tossing Cutler aside is not the answer just yet. We should also not pretend that he has ever had that much success at Lambeau Field, because he has not. Is anyone really that surprised by what happened last night?
