Cleveland Cavaliers forward LeBron James apologizes to NBA fans for not dunking as much as he once did.

When you think of the NBA’s most powerful dunkers, LeBron James is certainly near the top of the list.

Given that, it’s very odd the Cleveland Cavaliers superstar hasn’t dunked very often this season. In fact, James has only thrown down three times during the first five games of the season. In the past James would usually dunk at least three times per game.

Knowing that’s what the fans want to see, LeBron James apologized for his lack of dunks.

“I apologize I haven’t been above the rim, but I’m in the lineup,” James stated. “Whatever it takes to help us win.”

It’s possible James could have been also apologizing to his Cleveland Cavaliers teammates as well considering he knows how much his jams can change the tilt of games.

“I understand those are huge momentum plays,” James said. “We haven’t had too many fastbreak opportunities, as I have in the past. In the halfcourt they kind of put a lot of bodies in front of me. I’ve been able to find open guys.”

So what’s the reasoning behind LeBron James’ lack of dunking? Is it simply just not being in the right position at the right time as he suggests? While there may be some truth to that, keep in mind James was dealing with a back injury during training camp and may not be completely healthy. The suggest that he’s ‘in the lineup” seems to hint that he’s hobbled a bit and the last thing he wants to do is make the situation worse by continually dunking when he doesn’t need to.

Hopefully the back injury won’t linger much longer and we’ll get back to watching the LeBron James we all know.
