“This is the most improved team I’ve ever been around,” said the two time national title-winning head coach. The Buckeyes (8-1) are riding high as their stock is flying up the college football polls ever since the team’s statement 49-37 victory in East Lansing this past Saturday.

The official College Football Playoff poll will be released Tuesday night at 7:30 PM, and many anticipate that Ohio State will be in the top 10; with projections going as high as number eight. They are currently ranked 7th in the US Today coaches and 8th in the AP poll.

The biggest criticism against the Buckeyes before their win at previously ranked no. 8 Michigan State was that they were lacking that signature victory. No longer is that the case, and should the program run the table and win the Big Ten championship, a 12-1 OSU squad would be hard to deny a shot at a playoff spot. If you are from the Columbus, Ohio area, you have to like their odds.

Mississippi State will have to travel to Tuscaloosa to take on Alabama this coming weekend. Oregon will likely have to face Arizona State in the Pac-12 title game, and TCU is not in control of their own fate in the Big 12, as they lost by three to Baylor.

Already that potentially knocks off three teams in front of them guaranteed. So if the Buckeyes come into their road match up with Minnesota ranked 8th, they could very well be in the driver’s seat for a chance at the 4th seed in the playoff. Only time will tell what will happen, however, Urban Meyer’s optimism is not unfounded. Long gone are the memories of the team’s setback against Virginia Tech (4-5). Most expect the polls to reflect that come Tuesday night.
