After last night’s games in the Major League Soccer playoffs, we have the conference championship match ups set up. In the Eastern Conference, a usual rivalry squares off as the New York Red Bulls and New England Revolution clash. It pits the Eastern Conference’s No. 2 and No. 4 see against one another, both games taking place early in the day.
The Western Conference championship games will be played later in the day, at least for those on the East Coast. It pits former United States men’s national team captain Landon Donovan of the Los Angeles Galaxy against current USMNT captain Clint Dempsey.
Aside from that storyline, this is also Donovan’s last season and he is looking to go out on a high note. Dempsey will be looking to spoil that fairy tale end to his career as he looks for a championship of his own.
