El Tri managed to get that revenge, with a 3-2 victory that was led by a player making his highly-anticipated return.

Carlos Vela made his return to the international stage on Wednesday, and it was everything that he could have dreamed for.

In just the eighth minute of the match, Vela fired a shot from outside of the box and beat Dutch goalkeeper Tim Krul to the top left corner of the net with a golazo. (Video here)

That goal gave Mexico some confidence and they continued to push the pace in the opening minutes of the match. However, as the half continued, the Netherlands found their footing and closed out the final 25 minutes of the half as the better side.

The Netherlands carried that momentum into the second half as Wesley Sneijder scored a golazo of his own.

Mexico needed to answer as they were starting to watch the game slip away, and they did just that as Carlos Vela found the back of the net yet again to record a brace in his El Tri return.

Vela’s second goal of the match came shortly after Chicharito was robbed at the goaline by Tim Krul.

Just seven short minutes later, Chicharito scored a goal of his own to give the Netherlands a 3-1 lead.

The Dutch answered with a 74th minute goal from Daley Blind, but El Tri was able to hang on.

It was a great win for the Mexican side and a brilliant return for Carlos Vela and El Tri will hope that the big win grants them confidence moving forward. Revenge was complete.
