2. Carolina Panthers

The Carolina Panthers currently have a 3-6-1 record on the season, and have been extremely disappointed coming off of the great season that they had last year. Cam Newton simply hasn’t been able to play at the level that the Panthers were hoping, but part of that has to do with the lack of wide receivers that he has. They allowed Ted Ginn, Brandon LaFell, and Steve Smith to leave this past offseason, and added Kelvin Benjamin to help replace them.

Perhaps the most disappointing part of the poor play by the Panthers has been the defensive letdown that they have had. They were one of the best defenses in the NFL last year, and quite simply didn’t lose much this past offseason. It has been tough to watch how far they have fallen from last season.

It will be intriguing to see if they can turn things around and begin playing to their potential for the rest of the season. They still have the talent to make a run at the playoffs, but they have to figure things out immediately and begin winning some football games at a consistent rate.
