Many NBA teams have experimented with signing abnormally large humans but more often than not they’ve failed. Part of that is due to their penchant for injury, part of that due to a lack of skills and part of it due to a lack of athletic ability.
Simply put, no matter how tall you are you can’t play with NBA level talent if you’re not skilled enough yourself. But what about at the college level? That’s something UCF is going to find out as 7’6 high school center Tacko Fall has signed a letter of intent with the school.
Fall, who seemingly continues to grow had multiple schools interested in bringing him aboard though it was the University of Central Florida who won out in the end.
To put this into perspective, Tacko Fall is a clear five inches taller than Shaquille O’Neal and is the same height as Yao Ming. Of course he needs to possess some basketball skills if he’s to have any success, even at the college level though his size should replicate a wall at the rim if he can get his footwork in order.
You hope Tacko Fall can stay healthy as unusually big players have routinely dealt with foot injuries given the impact they continually deal with running up and down a basketball court. We’ve already seen it with the aforementioned Yao Ming though hopefully advancements in medical technology will keep him on the court moving forward.
As for UCF, they were already projected to have a wonderful team and the addition of Fall will only help improve their roster.
