Originally suspended for a full season for failing a substance abuse test, Gordon had his suspension reduced to 10 games after the NFL and players union came to a new agreement.
According to ESPN, Gordon will be able to rejoin the Browns immediately on Monday morning.
"“(He) will be clear to resume normal activities without restriction,” AFC director of football communications Jon Zimmer said."
That’s good news for Gordon and the Browns, but the best part for both is that the Browns are already playing very well. The addition of what was probably the league’s best receiver last year can only make the team better. Gordon will be participating in his first practice since training camp on Wednesday.
The Browns are in an extremely competitive AFC North division this year, with all four teams over .500 and vying for a playoff spot. The Browns are currently tied with the Baltimore Ravens in last place, but both teams are 6-4. Gordon’s return should help the Browns make a strong push through the last half of the season.
Last year, Josh Gordon had 87 receptions for 1,646 yards with an average of 18.9 and nine touchdowns. When he returns, the Browns will be preparing to go on the road and face the 3-6 Atlanta Falcons and then the 5-5 Buffalo Bills. Every game is huge for the Browns in such a competitive division and the team hopes its best receiver is ready to work.
"“I know he’s working,” Browns coach Kyle Shanahan said via ESPN. “So I’d be surprised if he wasn’t. Anytime you’re out of football, practicing and stuff does take some time. I’m looking forward to that next week.”"
