Kevin Garnett Wants To Buy Minnesota Timberwolves
By Evan Massey
Former NBA superstar and current Brooklyn Nets‘ big man Kevin Garnett would like to buy the Minnesota Timberwolves once he decides to retire from the game.
The Minnesota Timberwolves have been going through a rough era of basketball, and ended up having to trade franchise power forward Kevin Love this past offseason. Despite the lack of success that they have had since former superstar Kevin Garnett was traded away to the Boston Celtics, they still have faith that they have the franchise back o the right track with the young talent they have accumulated now.

Garnett loved his time with the Timberwolves, and Marc Spears of Yahoo! Sports reported today that he would like to buy the team after his NBA career is over.
"“I want to buy the Timberwolves. Put a group together and perhaps some day try to buy the team. That’s what I want. – Kevin Garnett”"
Brooklyn Nets’ general manager Billy Kings believes that Garnett would make a great owner, and would actually be one of the best in the league if he is able to buy the franchise.
"“He would be one of the best owners in the NBA because he understands what the players need and he understands what it takes to be successful in the NBA.”"
Needless to say, the franchise as a whole would be excited to have Garnett back in town as the owner. He has meant so much to the city of Minnesota throughout his career, and being able to go back home so to speak would be a very sweet thing to witness. The Timberwolves do have quite a bit of young talent in Andrew Wiggins, Zach LaVine, Anthony Bennett, and a few other players, but they still have a long way to go before they get back into playoff and championship contention.
Having an owner like Garnett to play for would give the players a bit of extra motivation, as he is one of the most intimidating players that the league has seen in quite some time. He does know what it takes to win a championship, and he has an excellent basketball mind as well.
It would be very intriguing to see Garnett put together a group and end up buying the Timberwolves’ franchise. This could very well be the last season of Garnett’s NBA career, and it seems that his next step would be to try and buy his former team. Don’t be surprised to hear rumors of a potential sale to Garnett fairly soon after he files his retirement papers, as that definitely seems like his goal at this point in time.
