Cleveland Cavaliers rookie Joe Harris could replace Shawn Marion in the starting lineup.

When Joe Harris was selected by the Cleveland Cavaliers with the third overall pick in the second round of the 2014 NBA Draft, it’s likely the former Virginia talent didn’t expect to see much floor time this season let alone be named a starter.

However that could be fast approaching as the rookie shooting guard continues to play well and has seen his minutes increase over the past two games.

Frustrated with sub par play from Shawn Marion and wanting to keep Dion Waiters as a bench scorer, Joe Harris could be named the Cleveland Cavaliers starting two guard in the near future.

"Harris plays with high energy. He defends, he keeps the ball moving, he cuts hard to the basket. He does everything the Cavs need him to do, including knocking down open shots. He is a great fit with this starting lineup because he doesn’t need the ball, but he’s more than capable of knocking down open shots."

In addition to playing twenty minutes in each of the Cleveland Cavaliers last two games, the guard also played in the final six minutes of the Cavs last tilt alongside Kevin Love, LeBron James and Kyrie Irving.

He certainly has a fan in the aforementioned James who had nothing but praise for the rookie,

“Joe Harris is going to be a big piece for our team,” James said. “He’s going to have his rookie mistakes, we know that, but mistakes can be covered when you play hard. That’s one thing that kid is doing.”

It shouldn’t exactly be shocking that a player like Harris could find himself in the Cleveland Cavaliers starting lineup as they’re looking for a smart and balanced player who does the little things and doesn’t need the ball in his hands to be effective.

You’re probably not going to find a better solution to that on the Cleveland roster outside of Harris.
