While Lambeau Field is one of the most iconic stadiums in the NFL (if not the most), they are a little behind the times in regards to some of the more technologically advanced venues.
That’s slowly changing though as fans of the Green Bay Packers will now have the ability to avoid the long concession lines and grab their own self-serve beer.
It’s an advancement that many stadiums in professional sports have been eying over the past few yeas though it’s the Green Bay Packers who are the first to actually install such, much to the appeasement of locals. The new self-serving beer is set to debut this weekend against the Philadelphia Eagles.
So how does it all work, you ask? Pretty simple, actually, though it won’t come cheaply.
Apparently one has to purchase a $20 dollar access card first and will then need to cough up a per-ounce fee depending on how much they drink. Miller Lite, for example will cost 39 cents per ounce. That comes out to $6.24 for a pint which actually isn’t all that bad considering some of the prices around the NFL.
It’s not yet confirmed but presumably the $20 dollar access card will essentially work as a prepaid card and pull money out as you continue to refill your beer.
You’ll also need a valid ID (of course) and there will be official beer checkers waiting at the self-serve beer stations to make sure nobody abuses the system, but it sounds like a pretty cool addition to Lambeau Field. Should be interesting to see how it works and if getting beer yourself will make life any easier in comparison to standing in the concession line when it’s 14 degrees outside.
