Without running back Rashad Jennings, the New York Giants have proven themselves to be a woeful football team. However with Jennings on the field, the New York Giants have been very respectable and today the running back returned to the field after missing the last few weeks with injury.
It was clear his presence on the field helped the New York Giants plow through the San Francisco 49ers defense during their first offensive possession of the game as Eli Manning and company easily breezed down the field after recovering a Frank Gore fumble.
Moments later they found themselves in the red zone facing a 2nd and 7 from the 19-yard line. That’s when tight end Larry Donnell cut through the San Francisco defense and despite having three defenders in the vicinity, was able to find a crack in the open space.
That’s all Eli Manning needed as the New York Giants quarterback tossed a seed into the hands of Donnell who stumbled into the end zone with the ball in hands.
The end result was a touchdown giving the Giants a 7-0 lead just minutes into the game.
A healthy New York Giants team certainly looks much more formidable when all of their offensive pieces are available, understandably.
