Miami Dolphins owner Stephen Ross suggests he has little interest in hiring Jim Harbaugh as head coach if he leaves the San Francisco 49ers.

For months the rumor mill has continually suggested Miami Dolphins owner Stephen Ross would go all out to sign San Francisco 49ers head coach Jim Harbaugh if their marriage ended in divorce.

Such appears to be more and more likely as talk of a potential split at season end between Harbaugh and the 49ers continues to grow, though according to Ian Rapoport the Miami Dolphins have no interest in bringing Harbaugh aboard.

Of course it could be nothing more than simple posturing on the part of Stephen Ross who continues to deflect interest in the former NFL quarterback.

Given the amount of reports that have suggested Ross having interest in Harbaugh it’s a bit difficult to believe he’d prefer the head coach at the University of Michigan and not in South Beach, though in fairness the Dolphins are playing decent football under the current staff and Ross may not want to rock the boat.

Add in that a handful of other teams are going to show interest in signing Jim Harbaugh if he and the 49ers do split, much like the Oakland Raiders and it’s possible Ross also doesn’t want to get into a bidding war when he already has pieces in place.

Still it’s not very often that a coach like Jim Harbaugh hits the open market so it’s difficult to tell how much of Ross’ comments about the potential Miami Dolphins head coaching job is legit or how much of it is nothing more than smoke.
