The Washington Redskins have attempted multiple types of motivation this season but nothing has appeared to work as they currently sit 3-6, good for last place in the NFC East.

Perhaps a talking to from an American hero will bring their spirits up though as former Navy SEAL Rob O’Neill, the man who claims he killed Osama Bin Laden spoke to the Redskins before their tilt against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Saturday night.

Washington Redskins wide receiver Pierre Garcon posted a picture of himself and O’Neill spending time together with the following caption:

“We had the honor of meeting and listening to a real HERO tonight before our game tomorrow and he’s a Redskins fan. Navy Seal Team 6 Rob O’Neill thank you for the inspiring words. #HTTR”

It’s not known if the Redskins scheduled O’Neil to speak to the team or if it was simply nothing more than a coincidence, but regardless the former SEAL seemed to impress the players he did speak with. It’s also not known how long his speech went on.

O’Neill has previously mentioned that the Washington Redskins are his favorite team so I’m sure it was as much of a thrill for him to speak with the players as it was for the players to speak with somebody who put his life on the line for their freedom and safety.

There has been some mild backlash directed at O’Neill who has been on a bit of a mini publicity tour as of late, though possible irritation or not there’s no denying what he and his fellow troops did and have done through trying times.

Hopefully for his and the Washington Redskins sake, the extra motivation will bring them a win over the 1-8 Buccaneers.
