The Shelby GT350 Mustang is one of the most beautiful and iconic cars on the road and it’s going to be back on the highway (at least this year) as Ford unveiled their new model during the 2014 Los Angeles Auto Show on Monday.
Included with the GT350 will be a flat-plane crankshaft 5.2-liter V8 engine that will produce more than 500 horsepower. Needless to say, it’s Ford’s most powerful naturally aspirated production engine ever and likely has gearheads drooling at the mouth.
“When we started working on this car, we wanted to build the best possible Mustang for the places we most love to drive — challenging back roads with a variety of corners and elevation changes — and the track on weekends,” said Raj Nair, Ford group vice president, global product development, in a statement. “Every change we made to this car was driven by the functional requirements of a powerful, responsive power plant — nimble, precise handling and massive stopping power.”
So how much is this beast of a ride going to set you back? Well, you’re going to have to wait a bit to find that out as Ford has yet to release the pricing structure for the GT350 model. There’s also no current release date though that is expected to be coming in the near future.
The new crankshift V8 is something more often found in European sports cars though the addition to the Shelby GT350 will create a “throaty howl from its four exhaust tips” according to Ford.
Needless to say the GT350 is quickly becoming one of the most anticipated rides for the upcoming year, though who exactly will be able to afford it remains to be seen.
