A report from the Department of Children and Families states the examining doctor believes Dwight Howard‘s son showed signs of physical abuse in the now closed case.

Although the alleged child abuse case against Houston Rockets center Dwight Howard has been closed, the consulting doctor who reviewed the boy does believe his injuries showed signs of abuse.

That’s the word from TMZ who obtained a report from the Department of Children and Families (DCF), summarizing the findings of the doctor who examined Braylon Howard.

Howard was accused of hitting the six-year-old boy with a belt, something that Howard admitted to authorities.

Braylon’s mother, a former Orlando Magic dancer took the boy to the doctor who stated that the injuries were consistent with that of abuse.

"“Dr. Kesler noted the child to have a linear bruise and patterned abrasions consistent with the history given by the child of being struck with a belt numerous times by his father.”The report goes on to say the injuries were “consistent with the child being struck with the buckle end of the belt … with excessive force, resulting in soft tissue injuries such as bruising and abrasions.”And the report indicates Dr. Kesler found the injuries lasted longer than 24 hours and were “consistent with a medical diagnosis of physical abuse.”"

Again, Dwight Howard was cleared of such charges as the DCF concluded the child abuse allegations were “not substantiated,” however as TMZ notes, in Florida that means there is “credible evidence” of child abuse, but not enough to warrant further action.

Given the nature of what took place in the Adrian Peterson situation, emotions are understandably on high alert regarding such punishment and potential child abuse.

With the case closed, it is not believed that any further action will come from the report.
